Charity Partners

The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal is proud to partner with the following charity groups:

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army operates across Australia and in 116 countries around the world. Their range of services are many and varied - they assist the homeless in finding shelter, feed the hungry, emotionally support those struggling and provide care facilities for the elderly.

Christmas is the busiest time of year for The Salvos, with more people coming to them for assistance than at any other time. Last Christmas, The Salvos assisted more than 300,000 Australians in need.

The Salvation Army has been a charity partner of the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal since its inception 21 years ago and distributes gifts donated to the Appeal in all states and territories.

The Brotherhood of St Laurence

Established during the Great Depression, the Brotherhood of St Laurence focuses on people at risk during four critical stages in their lives:

  • Children and families in the early years, both at home and in school
  • Young people in the years through school to work and further education
  • Adults seeking employment and training
  • Older people facing the challenges of retirement and ageing.

It also focuses on issues relating to refugees and financial inclusion.

The partnership between the Brotherhood and the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal helps those who are disadvantaged, isolated and lonely to celebrate the festive season with gifts.

In Victoria, gifts are distributed through the Brotherhood’s centres and their local welfare agency partners.
